About SLACF
At the Sign Language Academy of Cape Fear (SLACF), we believe every student deserves a place where language, belonging, and opportunity come first. As a private, Deaf-centered school, we are creating a language-rich learning community where our students thrive through meaningful relationships, accessible communication, and individualized instruction.

Welcome From The Director
Hello! As school director, I am proud to share the work of a truly special learning community. Our school is the only one in North Carolina offering a unique academic program where deaf and hearing children learn together through a bilingual and bimodal approach, using both American Sign Language and English throughout the school day.
Each day, our students build strong language, academic, and social foundations in an environment that values communication, respect, and collaboration. Deaf and hearing students learn side by side, gaining confidence, developing meaningful relationships, and building the skills they need to become successful, productive members of society.
Our dedicated teachers and staff work closely with families, professionals, and community partners who share our commitment to inclusion and language access. Together, we strive to create a language-rich environment where every child is known, supported, challenged, and encouraged to reach their full potential.
I invite you to explore our website to learn more about our program, our students, and the vibrant community that makes our school such a meaningful place to learn and grow. Thank you for your interest in our school and for supporting our mission.
