My Experience
Dr. Robert Nutt is a Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrician committed to advancing the health, development, and well-being of children with complex needs through clinical care, education, research, and public health leadership. A graduate of Dartmouth College with dual majors in Religion and Biochemistry & Molecular Biology, he went on to earn his Doctor of Medicine from Dartmouth Medical School. His early career included a post-doctoral research fellowship at the International Center for hearing and Speech Research at RIT, as well as teaching appointments at the National Technical Institute for the Deaf. Dr. Nutt completed his Pediatrics residency at the University of Rochester Medical Center, followed by clinical fellowships in Academic General Pediatrics and Developmental & Behavioral Pediatrics, alongside the prestigious Leadership Education in neurodevelopmental Disabilities (LEND) fellowship and a master's in public health.
Through his career, Dr. Nutt has demonstrated unwavering dedication to supporting the whole child and family, with extensive experience across General Pediatrics and Developmental & Behavioral Pediatrics in Rochester, Charlotte, and Wilmington. he has held faculty appointments at Rochester Institute of Technology, the University of North Carolina, and Duke University, and has been a sought-after speaker at regional, national, and international conferences. His service has extended to influential roles on the North Carolina Council for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, the Joint Commission on Infant Hearing, and multiple American Academy of Pediatrics Early Hearing Detection and Intervention advisory groups. Drawing on both professional expertise and personal experience, Dr. Nutt offers powerful insights into deafness, neurodevelopmental disabilities, early language access, and the nuanced distinction between hearing loss and conditions such as autism. he lives in Hampstead, North Carolina with his wife and three children.
